Friday Night Steaks & Saturday Night Meals

I would like to personally thank everyone that volunteers for the Friday Night Steaks and Saturday Night meals for the great job of stepping up to do these meals. These meals are important for the lodge. That goes for every other event that you volunteer for. All of you have to remember that this is your lodge. If you don't step up and make things happen the lodge will not survive. That means members supporting these meals and other events. We have just had our 40 year anniversary, which was great but the last 2 years have been the worst in the last 15 years. Remember our lodge Social Quarters Dollars help support Mooseheart & Mooseheaven. That is what we are all about. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,

Brother Moose Legionnaires: This will be my last newsletter as Chairman of the Moose Lodge Legion #167. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for coming out to our Moose Legion meetings, dinners and taking part in our special events. I hope you have all felt welcome and part of the whole. Our next Moose Lodge Legion meeting will be on May 12th at 9 am. This will be followed by a Highway clean up. It looks like spring is finally here so lets all come out and help North Shore get groomed for summer. Remember the Moose Legion Pledge: To do some good things for someone each day. This will be doing just that. On June the 9th at the Landers Moose Lodge, there will be an Executive Moose Legion board meeting at 10 am, followed by a Moose Legion Celebration at 1 PM. Lets try to have a good showing. We will be having a Moose Lodge Legion dinner of Barbecue Ribs and Links, hosted by Robert Carter and his crew on June 30th. Moose Legion Trivia: The two words which were included on the official Moose Legion emblem until 1992 were: "Alces Machlis" (Alces, meaning 'large wild beast'-such as a moose and Machlis, meaning 'leader'). At every LOOM meeting we have a Pea Drawing. If the pea numbers match the last two numbers on your Moose Card you could win 1/2 of the pot. You must be in attendance. The pot continues to grow each meeting, so attend those meetings on the First & Third Wednesdays. You could be the big winner. While your there you could volunteer to Host a Friday Night Steak night or a Saturday Night Meal. It's just helping out at the lodge.

Hello Brothers,

First of all I would like to give Joe Green a big thanks for the two great years he did making our lodge one of the top lodges in our association. Unless you have been governor you don’t realize how much work and time it takes to do the job. Thanks again Joe. Great Job.
I look forward to working with all of you this year. I will be asking you what events you would like to have this year. Your input and attending these events and functions are what makes this lodge prosper. Without all of your help the lodge will not make it. Many volunteers are needed. It is important that you come to the fun raisers as we need the revenue to send people to international and state conventions. This is why we have fun raisers.
We have a lot of things going on the next two months. Starting with the 4th of July BBQ on July 7th. Then on July 14th the Jeep Poker Run to 7 Oaks, with ½ pound monster burgers and macaroni salad after the run. We will meet at the lodge at 9:30 that morning. Wrapping up the month with the Doo Dah Parade. That will be a busy day with breakfast burritos in the morning, burgers and dogs at lunch with BBQ beef sandwiches for diner. We will need a lot of help that day. And don’t forget our annual 4th of July yard sale on the 4th thru 7th. So bring your unused items and donate them and also tell your friends. They probably have things to donate too. This is always a big money maker for the lodge.
In August Terry will be doing a Renaissance dinner on August 11. So come enjoy, he does a great job of cooking. Remember his great omelets at the chili cook-off. On the 18th there is going to be a Poker Run on the lake. You will be going to several bars/taverns to pick up your cards. Several boats will be available to ride on if you don’t have one of your own. The end of the month is going to be the annual Luau. So get out your Hawaiian attire and have a good time. This is also a Pot Luck so bring favorite dish.
Thanks to everyone all steak nights are covered for July and August. But don’t relax to much, I will be after you again soon. Thank you to all that volunteered. I would like to give Kevin thanks for all of the great meals that he does for the lodge on Monday, Thursdays and Sundays. Also an occasional Saturday night meal.
Once again I want to thank everyone for the help I have already had in my first months. Just remember this is your lodge, so what you do will make a difference in the lodge. It can either be a great success or a failure. Supporting your lodge is important for everyone to do.

If you haven’t tried Build Your Own Pizza at our facility, then you haven’t truly eaten pizza. What a delightful way to get what you’re digestively craving and entertain the whole family while fixing their own pizza. Jan 7th was a success with respect to said pizza. Yes.
Wine tasting was a great hit here on Jan 14th, and a first. It didn’t hurt to have a wonderful chicken fried steak dinner cooked by Emily Parker on the same night either. No surprise that Emily sold out. What a cook!
And as expected, Debbie Kanner’s stuffed pork chops were awesome. Way to go Deb! Thanks goes to Cheryl Carter also for her part in the delicious meal.
Teamwork is what we are all about. Partner up to make the WOTM meals. It’s social fun and he--- just good food.
Speaking of teamwork, Joscelyn Lewis has teamed with Vivian Weinheimer to make a lasagna dinner on March 3rd and again Mary Sullivan on March 24th for a chicken breast dinner. Both meals will be wonderful I am sure. Joscelyn, you’re the best! Of course, so are Vivian and Mary!
These collaborations of cuisine make for fine dining at our family center, and at an excellent low price. Wedged between those march dinners will be the St. Patrick’s Day celebration of corned beef and cabbage. Prepared by the men---with all proceeds going to our annual MS Walk on May 5th. Very worthy to support. Pt
St. Patrick, as most of you know is the patron Saint of Ireland, but he was really a Brit! Look for Easter ham with all the trimmings prepared and served by Pam Ingalls and Cheryl Carter on April 7th. I’ll bet that is going to be tasty.
Diana Whitesell and guess who---Cheryl, will be doing a traditional Mexican dinner on April 14th. Can’t miss that one! Cheryl, thanks for always being there to help everyone. You are proof of the aforementioned Teamwork.
Ladies, we should continue to step up to the plate and serve our members with home cooked meals, and in doing so, and at the risk of sounding redundant, pay it forward ti the Mooseheart kids.
We recently celebrated 40 years here at our lodge. How nice to know that fellowships are lasting. Moose members seem to have such a good rapport with each other and surrounding communities.
Cal-Nev. convention begins on March 22nd in Reno. Our own Diana Whitesell will receive her Academy of Friendship degree there. Come support Diana’s fundraising breakfast on Saturday, Marc 10th. Have fun conventioneers!
Please don’t forget our meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. I look foreword to seeing you then. I will soon turn over my gavel, as new Officer’s are elected to represent our Chapter. Get involved. You won’t regret it. I promise.
